The Story of Lem Ward
Published in Hardcover by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (June, 1984)
Average review score:

A daughter's tribute to a "National Treasure"The Japanese recognize those people who acheive "cult" status in their country by making them National Treasures. This book, written by Lem Ward's daughter Ida Linton is truly a biter-sweet trip through the making of one of America's truly great carved waterfowl painters. Along with his brother Steven who was primarily a carver, the Ward Brothers made a major impact on the world of waterfowl counterfits. As Ida tells the story, you live along with Lem from his hair cutting days, through the depression, and into the later years of his life, with all of it's trials and tribulations. It seems that these things shape a man, as I am sure they, with his faith in God, shaped him. If you like waterfowl carvings as I do I am sure you will be touched with this story of the Ward's legacy.

This Child's Gonna Live,
Published in Hardcover by Delacorte Press (June, 1969)
Average review score:

A superbly written and heartrending taleSet in a Maryland fishing village in the early 1930's, This Child's Gonna Live by Sarah E. Wright is the harshly candid story of Mariah Upshur, the African-American wife of a poor oysterman, and who is struggling to keep her family together despite smothering press of poverty and despair. This Child's Gonna Live is the superbly written and heartrending tale of a monumental effort for family survival under the harsh realities of rural poverty. Of special interest in this Feminist Press edition of an African-American literary classic is the inclusion of the Sarah E. Wright's essay, "The Writer's Responsibility".

Towson: A Pictorial History of a Maryland Town
Published in Hardcover by Walsworth Publishing (November, 1977)
Average review score:

Towson: A Picitoral History of MarylandThis book really is very well done! It is very informative of Maryland throughout its years. George Hahn has obviously put lots of work into this really wonderful book that basically sums up the history of Maryland. I was really impressed by the pictures he had of this state that I really never knew could be so interesting! Another reason I liked it was because of its combination of a scrapbook and an interesting story that leads you through this state's history! This book is 2 thumbs way, way, up!

Trackside Maryland: From Railyard to Main Line
Published in Hardcover by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (01 April, 2003)
Average review score:

Excellent Book! Many Photo¿sI found this book to be very good; if you're from the Mid Atlantic States it's a great book! Many of the photos and stories are very good; almost all are black and white. This book had me looking back in time and remembering the days of powerful steam engines and then powerful diesel locomotives. A lot of the book is dedicated to the latter. I would highly recommend this book, even if you're not from the Maryland area the photos and stories are very good and trains of course are national in nature.

Travel Smart: Maryland/Delaware
Published in Paperback by Avalon Travel Publishing (March, 1999)
Average review score:

Great Guide to DC, Maryland and DelawareMs. Kinkade has done a great job with her overview guide of Washington D.C. (and its surroundings), Maryland and Delaware. From Alexandria to Annapolis to the Delaware mansions, she gives thorough, pithy reviews of sights, food and lodging throughout the region. The guide is very logically laid out, with useful road maps and -- a unique touch -- a paragraph on a "perfect day" in each of the regions reviewed. As an experienced weekend wanderer in the region, I can strongly endorse the book.

Thorough information on all aspects of the DC job market.I have lived in the Washington area for many years and unfortunately lived through many job searches. This is more than a book -- it is a thorough compilation, up-to-date resource, and insightful guide to virtually everything about the Washington job market. In size as well as content, it is far beyond any of the other books on D.C. jobs out today. It helped me land my current job and I will most certainly turn to it when and if I ever need to look for another
